My Library Account


The Gilman Library offers a wonderful feature for text messaging. Gabbie℠ Text-a-Librarian is a way to communicate with staff during open hours and also get automated renewal service 24/7. Our circulation also utilizes the library SMS (short message service) number, 603-267-4302, for automated text notifications.

Most of our Patrons report that they love this feature. However, some customers have reported random delivery issues with text messages. Sometimes they do not receive their text messages, even though their carriers reported the message as 'Delivered' in the Gilman Library Notification report.

To be sure that this does not happen with your messages, just add our Gabbie℠ SMS number, 603-267-4302 to your phone's Contact List, and the messages will get through. If you have been having problems, let us know immediately, and we will test it.

Along that same line, please also bookmark our Gilman Library email,, in your Email Contact List, to ensure you receive check-out receipts or other notices that might be diverted to your Spam folder or permanently blocked by your email provider.


To access your account, renew, reserve, or request materials, simply log into our library catalog, using your Card Number and Phone Number or Password (Upper Right) then click on "My Account." If you need help signing in, please call us at (603) 875-2550.


Now you can request Interlibrary Loans, from other libraries in New Hampshire, directly through NHU-PAC NHAIS Share-It. You are limited to three requests per week.

Patrons can now correspond via Text to the Library Staff. When the telephone line is busy, send a question to be answered during library hours. This is much more reliable than email.

Get immediate results anytime of day or night, when receiving text notices for impending due dates or overdues. Simply respond by "command" text and immediately renew the items due.

Available commands are: renew due, renew all, summary, and help (commands can be lower, upper case, or mixed; it doesn’t matter)

o “Renew due” and “Renew all” will renew what is renewable and return a summary of how many items were and were not renewed.

o “Summary” will return a privacy redacted summary of what the patron has out.

o “Help” will return a list of these commands.

The commands must be from a phone on an account with your library.

When you initiate a conversation, you will receive a welcome note and a list of the commands. You will have the same overdue, reserve, and pre-due text notices that you have now.

To enable this feature, make sure you have selected in your account, to receive text notices by cell phone and that we have your current cell phone number.
